Located at about 332km from the capital São Luís, the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park is considered the "Brazilian Sahara" for its 155,000 hectares dune desert which extends itself from the continent towards the sea. However, there is a great difference from its African "cousin" – in the Lençóis Maranhenses it rains 300 times more, which forms hundreds of emerald-green lagoons in the midst of gigantic dunes.
The conventional entrance door to this location is through the city of Barreirinhas (240km-149mi. from São Luís), with reasonable tourism structure and an aircraft landing field. The other route to get into Lençóis (the most radical one) is through Caburé, a village composed basically of rustic lodges and nomad fishermen, who live there six months out of a year.

Program Summary

 Day 1 - São Luis
Arrival in São Luis, meet guide assistance and transfer to Pestana São Luis Resort Hotel (4*) or similar. After checking in, start the city tour, visiting the main sightseeings of the Maranhão Capital.

Day 2  - São Luis - Lençois Maranhenses
Breakfast. Check out and transfer according to choice in private vehicle (3:40h) or airplane (40min) to Barreirinhas. Arrival and accomodation at Pousada Buriti Inn or similar.
In the afternoon, tour by a 4x4 vehicle to the Lençois Maranhenses National Park to visit dunnes and lagoons. Return to hotel, and overnight. (B)

Day 3 - Lençois Maranhenses
Breakfast; In a pre-set time with guide, leave to full day in speed boat on the Preguiças River and Pequenos Lençois. Return to hotel and Overnight. (B)

Day 4 - Lençois Maranhenses - São Luis
Breakfast. Free morning at your own. In the afternoon, Private ground or air transfer to São Luiz. Arrival in São Luiz, transfer in and accomodation at Pestana São Luis Resort or similar. (B)

Day 5 - São Luis
Breakfast. On a pre-set time with guide, transfer out to airport for your flight to the next destination. End of services. (B)
